Petroleum Tankers Drivers (PTD) association has denied allegations that its members divert petroleum products to neighboring countries.
As contained in a statement signed by Head, PTD Media Relations, Abdulkadir Garba, on Monday, April 11, in Abuja, the association said the accusation is absolutely untrue.
It said the PTD has been working tirelessly to ensure an end to the lingering fuel scarcity in the country.
Also reacting to the allegation, the Chairman of the association, Salimon Oladiti, in the statement, said the association would punish any member found guilty.
“We condemned diversion, vandalism and all forms of criminal activities and should any of our members be found wanting, the union as a rule would not hesitate to sanction such member," he said.
However, despite the promise by the Minister of state for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu , that fuel queues across the country would disappear by April 7 » , the situation lingers, and may have gotten worse in some states according to multiple reports.
