ABA - Soldiers attached to the 144 Battalion, Asa
,Ukwa West council area, have shot dead a
notorious kidnapper along the Opobo –Azumini
highway, Abia state.
Luck was said to have ran out on the kidnap
kingpin identified as Chisom Aloysius Enyinnaya,
a.k.a IPO, as his gang engaged soldiers in a gun
duel. It was learned that the robbers on sighting
the soldiers opened fire on them at Akpaa Mbato
community. In the ensuing gunfire, Enyinnaya
was shot dead while other members of his gang
escaped with bullet wounds
Vanguard gathered that Enyinnaya and members
of his gang have been on the wanted list of the
security agencies following the increasing attack
on motorists plying the Opobo- Azumini highway.
Narrating how the ring leader was killed, military
sources at the Battalion told Vanguard that the
gang leader was shot dead by soldiers on patrol
along Opobo-Azumini highway who were alerted
to the activities of the gang said to be robbing
crayfish dealers on their way back from Oron,
Akwa Ibom State.
Some of the traders and their bus driver, Ndifreke
Sunday, who were robbed by the gang as their
vehicle slowed down on a bad portion of the
highway, commended the soldiers for coming to
their rescue
They lamented that the deplorable nature of the
highway have made it possible for robbers to
always attack motorists and appealed to the
state and federal governments to rehabilitate the
Opobo -Azumini highway, stressing that if the
road was in good condition, the hoodlums
wouldn’t have caught up with their bus.
